What is Fibromyalgia?Symptoms: The symptoms of the fibromyalgia condition are the patient’s sensitivity to any type mild or simple touch. The sufferer of fibromyalgia is chronic pain in the various regions of the body. The skin in the patients of fibromyalgia becomes very sensitive as well; the skin may experience a needle like sharp tingling. Other signs of this disease include pain in the nerves, weakness in the joints of the body, and continued pain in the muscles. The affected person also has a sleep disturbance and the condition of insomnia is the classic symptom of fibromyalgia. The diagnosis is fibromyalgia is not very well defined but the American college of rheumatology has laid down certain criteria for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia which are known as the ACR 1990, since the rules were laid down in 1990. The criteria lays stress on the condition of widespread pain which can continue for three months or more than that. There are also 18 tender points by which the diagnosis can be done. Comments |
